Billy Stokes
Ridgeland, MS
Billy Stokes was born October 11, 1934 in the "Red Clay" hills of Neshoba County in the community of Coy, Mississippi. He left this world September 1, 2023 to join his recently deceased soulmate and wife Bobbie. We rejoice in the fact that Billy has been reunited with her in his new home in heaven with God and the Angels.
Mr. Stokes graduated from Bond High school. He started his work career at 17 years old when he rode the bus to Jackson and found a job on Capitol Street. After various jobs while traveling the southeast and north, he continued his manufacturing career in Earnest at Vickers/Eaton Corporation. He was gainfully employed there for 42 years.
With his background, Billy always considered himself a "Jack of All Trades and A Master of None" While Billy may have considered himself a "Master of None" he will always be remembered by those who knew him for his work ethic, his storytelling ability and his eternal optimistic enthusiasm for life. Billy was always working on something. His ability to tell a story would rival Mark Twain, but most enduring was Billy's outlook for life. The glass was half full, never half empty. He lived by the motto "You can always do what you set your mind to do as long as you do it honestly. Billy always had an affection for animals as he had many cats throughout the years.
Billy is survived by daughters, Terri (Jeff) Livingston and Kim Stokes; grandchildren, Ross (Stephanie) Livingston and Anna Laura (Sam) Osborne. Mr. Stokes is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Era Stokes; siblings: Kathilyn Seals, Ernestine Knowlton, Guy Stokes, Maxine McDonal, Ima Jean Stokes, Prentiss Stokes, and Patrica Akers.
A visitation celebrating his life will commence at 11:30 am Friday, September 8, 2023 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home (759 Hwy 51, Madison MS 39110) with an interment to follow in the cemetery.
