Obituary of Margaret Ann Tolbert
Margaret Ann “Sissy” Strickland Tolbert, 58, of Madison, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2018 in her sleep, at the home of her own design. She was cheerful, quick-witted, humorous, and loving, despite many years of illness. She gave us everything she had. She was our cheerleader.
Born on June 20, 1960 to Lester Fay and Mary Bounds Strickland in Hampton, Arkansas, she was reared in Helena, Arkansas. She moved to Mississippi to pursue her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education. She has lived with her family in Madison for 25 years.
She cherished her relationships with her friends, her family, and the Lord. She faced hardships and experienced miracles. She was able to find joy and happiness in any circumstance.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fay Strickland, and her brother, Mike Strickland.
Sissy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Tolbert; sons, Thomas and Garrison Tolbert; daughter, Mary Margaret Pritchard; daughter-in-law, Annie Tolbert; son-in-law, Hal Pritchard; mother, Mary Strickland; sister, Iris Lowder; and brothers, Tom and Bill Strickland.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, with a service celebrating her life following in the chapel at 3:00pm. Interment will take place in the Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
