David Phares Carby, age 78, of Madison, was the oldest child of Elmer and Phoebe Phares Carby. Born in Houston, Texas, David was raised in Natchez, Mississippi where he attended school, graduating from Natchez High School in 1964. In 1965, David joined the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War. David served in Amphibious Warfare and was a member of the distinguished Seabee's, providing military support to the Navy, Marine Corps and other forces in military operations. After his military service, David lived in Houston during the 1980's where he restored and rented apartments. He returned to Natchez and established a collection agency, which he owned and operated until moving to the Jackson Metro area in the early 1990's. He then worked for Smith-Rouchon Collection Agency until retirement. David loved spending time with his grandchildren and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and metal detecting. David is survived by his sons; Paul Carby (Sammi) and Bishop Carby (Celeste), grandchildren; Cate, Dalton, and Jackson, his baby sister and best friend, Melinda Everett (Charlie), brother, Philip Carby (Stella); and bonus sons, Chad and Seth Everett. David was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Gabriel Carby. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Grace Crossing Baptist Church located at 598 Yandell Rd Canton, MS from 9:00am until 10:00am with a memorial service at 10:00am. Interment will follow in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
