Obituary of Robert E. "Bob" Manning Jr

Robert E. "Bob" Manning, Jr., passed from this life into his heavenly home on October 19, 2023, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi, after an extended illness. He was born to Robert and Norlane Manning on October 7, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi.
He graduated from Provine High School in 1965 and from Mississippi College in 1970 with a degree in Biology. Bob then enlisted in the United States Airforce and served in Vietnam returning to continue his commission at Maxwell Airforce Base in Montgomery, Alabama. He then continued his education at Auburn University where he received an accounting degree.
He resided most of his life in Houston, Texas, where he was employed as a budget analyst for several petroleum companies. Bob was an avid reader his entire life and spent much of his free time reading novels and history regarding world events. He was also an avid fan of the Houston Astros baseball team and Auburn Tigers Football.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Norlane Manning of Jackson, Mississippi. Bob is survived by his daughter, Shauna Diehl (Adam) of Pearl, Mississippi, his son, Robert E. (Robby) Manning, of Houston, Texas, and his sister, Ginger Benson (Rick) of Madison, Mississippi. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda Rose Diehl, Benjamin Diehl both from Pearl, Mississippi, and Lilly Manning of Houston, Texas.
A graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery located in Madison, Mississippi and will be officiated by Rev. Braden Manning Benson.
