Obituary of Mary M. Smith

Mary Moudy Smith, age 82, of Florence, MS was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 29, 2023, while surrounded by her family. A visitation honoring Mrs. Smith will be held Wednesday August 2, 2023, from 5-7 P.M. at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, MS. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday August 3, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Natchez Trace Funeral Home with an hour visitation prior to service time. Burial will take place in Carthage, MS at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.
Mary was born August 17, 1940, in Attala County and was the daughter of Adam Mathies Moudy and Alma Odom Moudy. She loved her church, Relate Church in Byram and worshipping Jesus. She enjoyed cookouts and getting together with her family and playing cards with her sisters Mamie and Betty every Thursday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jack Smith; one daughter, Vickie Marlene Smith; great grandson, Christopher Cruz Thompson; parents, Adam Mathies Moudy and Alma Odom Moudy; sisters, Edward Louis Moudy, Earlean Shuler, Mildred Devine, Carlon Measells; brothers, James Mathies Moudy, William Daniel Moudy, Hugh David Moudy, and Don Morris Moudy.
She is survived by two sons, Jackie Dwayne Smith and his wife Brenda of Florence, MS., and Buddy Smith and his wife Jill of Brandon, MS.; three daughters, Melissa McElroy and her husband Ronnie of Florence, MS., Shelia Westerfield and her husband Carl of Puckett, MS, Jeanette Randazz and her husband Randy of Slidell, LA., grandchildren, Felicia Holbrook and her husband Bill of Magee, MS., Chad Smith and his wife Linsey of Pelehatchie, MS., Chris Thompson and his wife Jennifer of Florence, MS., Steven Westerfield and his wife Tiffany of Florence, MS., Anthony Thompson and his wife Holly of Brandon, MS., Ronnie McElroy and his wife Lacey of Florence, MS., Joseph Smith of Madison, MS., Brandie Davis and her husband Michael of Puckett, MS., Joshua Smith and his wife Ashton of Madison, MS., Jeremy McElroy and his wife Savannah of Florence, MS., Christian Mocco and her husband Ionwayne of New Caney, TX., Taylor Steptoe and husband Sains of Madison, MS., and Jordyn Nelson and her husband Austin of Brandon, MS.; great grandchildren, Jessie Moore and wife Ashley, Cody Smith and wife Dianna, Dillon Moore and wife Lindsey, Jody Smith and his wife Katelynn, Payten Linsey and husband Thomas, Joseph Gage Smith, Harley Dabbs, Keelie Smith, Harper Foy, Journee Thompson, Bentleigh McElroy, Cal Foy, Stella Thompson, Eva Thompson, Adilynn Westerfield, Parker McElroy, Crosby Thompson, Cross Thompson, Presley McElroy, Jaclynn Thompson, Piper McElroy, Fletcher Davis, Everlee Westerfield, Finley Steptoe, Vanna Tayte Smith, Mila-Kate Davis, Memphis McElroy, Waylon McElroy, Cash McElroy; great-great grandchildren, Paisley Grace Smith, Amelia Jane Smith, and Sophia Smith, Ryleigh Moore, Penelope Dymond, Sophia Dymond, McKinley Lindsey, Waylon Lindsey, Hollyn Moore and Arnold Smith; sisters, Mamie Beers, Betty Copeland, and brother, Paul Moudy.
