Valerie Schultz Archie, 72, of Madison, Mississippi died Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at her home surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Albert "A.Q." Archie; daughter, Kimberly Archie DeLoach and her husband Rob; two grandchildren, Bryce and Ansley; sister, Ann Schultz Dillard and her husband Wayne; brother, James Schultz, Jr. and his wife Susan; nephew, Jamie Schultz; niece, Sara Schultz; as well as, many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James Edward Schultz and her mother, Christine Taylor Schultz of Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from Huguenot High School in Richmond, Virginia in 1968, she began employment with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. There, she met her husband, Albert "A.Q." Archie and they were married on Albert's 24th birthday, March 20, 1971. Her employment history included over 25 years with the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal agencies. She moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 1992 and later retired as a claim adjudicator for the Veterans Benefits Administration. After retiring in 2007, she moved with her husband to Madison County and joined First Baptist Church Madison. In addition to caring for her grandchildren, she enjoyed knitting and working in her yard caring for her flowers, especially her favorite David Austin roses. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at First Baptist Church Madison from 10:00am until 11:00am with the service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
