Anne Tuten Gibson
Madison, Mississippi
1933 - 2023
Anne was born June 10, 1933 in Ridgeland, South Carolina. She left her loved ones to be with her Heavenly Father on June 13, 2023.
At age 14, she moved to Brays Island in Beaufort County where she met Reece Gibson. They married in 1952. They began their nearly 60 year journey together, taking them from Beaufort to Hilton Head, SC; Boone, NC; back to Beaufort and finally to the Jackson, MS area.
Anne was a retired medical transcriptionist and antiques dealer. She was the owner of Island Antiques in SC and Anne-Tiques in Madison, MS. After closing Anne-Tiques, she continued with a booth in a local antiques mall. Anne and Reece also participated in antique shows in SC, NC, GA, TN, TX and MS.
For many years they were active members of Beaufort Squares Dance Club. They visited clubs in several states, making life-long friends along the way. Anne was active in Beta Sigma Phi and numerous other civic organizations and activities. She was also a gifted seamstress. She made her own wedding dress, many of her children’s clothes, cheerleading uniforms, and costumes for plays, Halloween and other events. Anne and Reece were also blessed to travel and enjoy God’s miraculous beauty in 48 states and Western Canada. They never missed an opportunity to tell others about Jesus along the way.
Anne was an active member of Grace Crossing Baptist Church. She was involved with the needs and concerns of her Sunday School class. She was very grateful for her Pastor, Kevin Cooper, and others who were always there for her during happy and sad times.
Anne is preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings and treasured grandson, James Emanuel Smith, IV (JES). She is survived by son Kerry Gibson (Debbie); two daughters, Teresa Chappell (Norman) and Gina Smith (Jim); granddaughters Meagan Smith, Brandy Miller, and Kelly Holly (Matt); grandson, Walker Gibson (Kim); four great-grandchildren, Reece and Kate Gibson, Emma and Mattie Holly; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her faithful and loving pup, Cashew.
