Obituary of James G. "Jimmy" Brooks, Sr.

Patrolman First Class James G. "Jimmy" Brooks, age 60, died March 23, 2011 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Madison. Visitation will be Sunday at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison from 4:30pm until 9:00pm. A funeral service celebrating Jimmy's life will be 11am Monday and officiated by Dr. John Compton at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment will be in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native of Vicksburg, MS and the son of Bobbie Allen and the late Johnny L. Brooks, Jimmy was a career Motorcycle Patrol Officer. He moved up the ranks during his 22 year career with the Vicksburg Police Department, serving his last two years as Chief of Police.
After retirement from Vicksburg Police Department, Jimmy began serving as a Motorcycle Patrolman with the Madison Police Department. Jimmy received Officer of the Year on several occasions and won a trophy during the most recent competition, which his wife will receive Sunday. He was a board member for the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer Association and has been involved with the volunteer Fire Department. "Riding motorcycles was what he loved most. If he wasn't on a bike he was on a lawn mower, cutting grass sometimes twice a week" said his family. Jimmy was also a member and a Deacon of First Baptist Church in Clinton.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diana Brooks; daughter, Tina Beaube (husband Scott); sons, Jamie Brooks (wife Lamonica), Jonathon Brooks, Jason Brooks (wife Kaylin) and Justin Brooks, grandchildren, Blake and Andrew Brooks, Brandon, Caitlyn and Lauri Beaube, and Rebekah and Matthew Brooks; mother Bobbie Allen, all of Clinton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
