Danny “Dan” Lee Kruse Sr., of Madison, MS passed into eternal life on January 22, 2023 at the age of 82. Fighting a decade long battle of lung conditions including COPD and cancer, he always wore a smile. At his passing, he was surrounded by family and friends at his home in Madison. Dan was born in St. Peter, Minnesota on June 25, 1940 and raised in nearby Le Sueur “Valley of the Jolly Green Giant” at their family farm with his mother, father and three brothers, Dick, Jim and Tom. At age 17, Dan left school and enlisted in the US Navy where he served his country on the USS Saratoga for four years. Early in his active duty he was stationed in the gulf, a shore leave would then take him to New Orleans where he would be introduced to a southern bell, Gerilyn Teresa Goebel, who would soon become the love of his life. They were married and had two children, Danny Jr. and Linda Teresa a year apart. Dan was still in the Navy at that time and would be discharged in 1962. He then settled for a short bit in New Orleans and began his salesman career in several cities around the south and landed in the Memphis area where he began selling office supplies and machines for a local company in north Mississippi. After a decade or so had passed, in 1974, he and Geri proudly opened their own office supply company located in Southaven, MS, Quality Office Products, Inc. In a few short years the company would transition into the printing business where it remained successful until his retirement. Gerilyn unexpectedly passed following a short illness in 2001. Dan remarried Hope Noel and spent his following years traveling and enjoying life until her passing in 2021. Dan was a dedicated parishioner of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Southaven for more than five decades and sincerely loved his church family. Since moving to Madison he was blessed in finding a home at Chapel of the Cross. When Dan wasn’t too busy at work he loved to hunt, fish and enjoy watching his football and basketball favorites. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Ann and Martin Kruse, brother Dick Kruse, wife Gerilyn Kruse and daughter Linda Kruse. He is survived by his son Danny Jr., (Aleese), his grandchildren Abby (Thomas) and Kyle (Leslie) and his great grandchildren Peter, Louis, Tom, Max and Dan who will be here sometime in June 2023. He will be missed. His Memorial service will be held at Chapel of the Cross, 674 Mannsdale Road, Madison, MS. February 4th, 2023 at 2:00 / Visitation 1:00 to 2:00. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his honor to Chapel of the Cross.
