Obituary of Jimmy L. Sexton

Please share a memory of Jimmy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jimmy L. Sexton Ridgeland, MS Jimmy Leslie Sexton, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2022. He was surrounded by his wife, Tina and their children, Jet, Kayli, and Harley. Jimmy was born on December 8, 1957 to Mr. Leroy Sexton, Sr. and Lorene Stone Sexton in Cleveland, MS. Jimmy was currently working as a fuel hauler for Love's, before that, Dupré and Long Haul. Before truck driving, he worked many years as a barber/hair stylist. He owned and operated "Cut-N-Up" Barber Shop and Styling Studio. Jimmy had outstanding work ethics and gave his all in every endeavor. Being a "Jack-of-all-trades", if it was broken, he could fix it. He had the knowledge and talent to repair anything whether it was automotive, home, plumbing, electrical, or anything else. He was a licensed welder, certified scuba diver and licensed HVAC. When he was younger, he was an assistant to his father at Sexton Electric. Jimmy grew up in Jackson in the Ridgewood Road area. He attended Callaway High School, Hinds Community College, and Delta Tech. Jimmy's love for motor sports started at an early age. He raced Go-Karts (Go #8!!) and got his first motorcycle at the age of 9. Over the years, he kept moving up to a bigger and faster motorcycle. He also had a passion for fast cars, always modifying everything he got. His favorites were the trucks (for those wild mud riding days), the infamous jeep, his Corvettes, and the mustangs including the Cobra. He loved water sports, fast boats, and his 3 wheelers (before they were outlawed). Jimmy simply had a need for speed. He loved Classic Rock music and could loudly sing most songs by heart. He had a black belt in Taekwondo that he and the children attained together. He loved weightlifting and bodybuilding, even competing at one time. He was such a bright light, he always roared "Better to burn out than fade away." Jimmy proudly involved his family in every aspect of his life. He was a member of Ridgeland First United Methodist Church with Tina and all of their children. Jimmy was a friend and motivator to anyone ever lucky enough to know him. He made life so much fun and there was never a dull moment with him around. He had a flair for brutal honesty and used his outstanding wit and humor to get the message across. To say that he was colorful is an understatement. Jimmy was not shy and built new friendships ongoing. Once you were his friend, he never forgot about you. He probably would say his proudest accomplishment in life would be his "Tina Baby", and his children, Jet, Kayli, and Harley, as well as his granddaughter, Angelina. He was excited about his new grandbaby coming in June. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Tina Marie Morton Sexton; sons, Jet Tyler (Jade Lassiter) Sexton and Harley Dylan Sexton of Ridgeland, MS; daughter, Kayli Michelle Sexton (fiancé Chris Hornberger) and her daughter, Angelina Marie Sexton, of Pearl, MS, along with the next grandbaby due this year; brother, Leroy (Melia) Sexton, Jr. and their sons, Sonny (fiancé Valarie) Sexton with his children, Kennedy, Reagan, and Lincoln, Nathan (Lauren) Sexton; sister, Bobbie Faye Baker of Destin, FL; sister-in-law, Jenny Lynn Taylor of Meridian, MS, and her daughter, Lauren Olivia Taylor; sister-in-Law, Barbara Gay (Danny) Tadlock of Madison, MS and their sons, Barry (Macy) and children Jaxson and Rivers Tadlock; Brock Tadlock and Branson Tadlock; nephews, Michael and Steve Dunlap and many other nieces, nephews, and loving family members. Jimmy is predeceased by his parents, Leroy Sr. and Lorene Stone Sexton; parents-in-law, Moody and Janelle Morton; sister, Linda Dunlap; brother-in-law, Jimmy Taylor and brother-in-law John Baker.
