Obituary of Virginia "Jin" Baker

Virginia Scott “Jin” Baker, 87, of Madison, MS, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at St. Dominic Hospital. Born June 17, 1934 and raised in Malvern, AR, Jin graduated from Malvern High School. She later worked for National Lead, where she met Charles A. Baker, whom she married on March 5, 1954. Charles and Jin moved their family to Loves Park, IL in 1965, where they raised their two sons. After retirement Charles and Jin moved to Brandon, MS in 1999, to be near family. Through their fifty-five years together, Charles and Jin served in many Assembly of God churches in AR, IL, and MS. Jin enjoyed sewing, birds, decorating, was an awesome cook, and took great delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jin is survived by her two sons, Kevin R. Baker (Carol) of Madison, MS and Kennan D. Baker (Jerri) of Shelby Township, MI; grandchildren, Chase Baker of Madison, MS, Samuel Baker of Cleveland, MS, Nathaniel Baker (Anja), of Madison, MS, Kyle Baker (Stephanie) of Macomb, MI, and Kaitlyn Baker of Springfield, MO; great-grandchildren Locke Baker, Herschel Baker, Blake Baker, and Blair Baker; and many nieces and nephews.
Jin was predeceased by her parents, Walter Clay and Gladys Anderson Scott; sister, Judith Scott Davis (Walter); and brother, Gerald Scott. Service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home with visitation from 12:00 p.m. to the time of service. Interment will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery, Ridgeland.
