Prayers and thoughts for you Blake and your family. Your mom was such a wonderful aunt, sister and person. I enjoyed talking to her and spending time over the years with all of you. We were so blessed to have her in our lives. I looked forward to her calls and the calls I made to her.

Your grandmother was a woman we could all look up to. Her kindness, strength and integrity are just a few of the things we can learn and hope to emulate. Please accept my sympathy for your loss, Frandy Oberto.

God truly blessed our family with a wonderful aunt. As the matriarch, Aunt Polly was a mother to all. For me, she filled that empty spot when my dear Mama, her sister, passed too early in life. Aunt Polly was one of the first people I ran to in sharing life’s ups & downs. Rarely a week went by without us chatting. She was a wealth of wisdom. I cherished being with her. Blake was always there for her & so attentive at all times. I thank his family for sharing him & helping Aunt Polly live such fulfilling golden years.
One of my favorite memories is spending the weekend with her at her home in DE to put together the Cerveny/Mitrovka history. We had a ball. Oh such fun to hear all about the courage of our grandparents (her parents) as they came to America in the early 1900’s.
I envision her gentle transition into Heaven by her dear husband, all of her siblings, many nieces, in-laws & her loving parents. I can only imagine the reunion of one big, happy Slovak family & her dear life-long friends of all walks.
I will miss our long talks, my dear, sweet Aunt Polly. You will always be in my heart. Life will be missing a little something without you.
All my heart,
Helene
PS: I am posting a few pictures that helped me pass through the tears. Memories mean so much. Please share yours.

My Grandmom passed away last night. She was 102. She lived a long and wonderful life. It doesn’t make it hurt any less. My Grandmom was a Navy Wave. She fought for civil rights. She was the oldest of 9! Her parents were immigrants from Czechoslovakia. She was a first-generation American. She was a strong woman.
When I was little, my Grandmom would babysit and come to visit us for the holidays. She moved to Mississippi a little over 12 years ago. She was very competitive, especially when it came to Monopoly and Uncle Wiggily. I loved to play dress-up and make-believe. She always played along. My Grandmom and I use to play “Dorothy” (Wizard of Oz). I always played Dorothy, and my Grandmom would play everyone else. She was very talented! She had these bright green slippers that she would let me wear as my “ruby slippers.” I still have them.
I know that she is in heaven and at peace. I miss you, Grandmom. I’ll see you again, one day somewhere over the rainbow.
