Obituary of Ola Mae Cupples
Please share a memory of Ola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ola Cupit Cupples passed on January 19, 2021 at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, MS. She was
born to Mattie Mae and Kelly Cupit in Crowville, LA on September 5, 1927.
She was married for 46 years to Willie Cupples, Sr., and is survived by five children and their spouses, Willie Cupples,
Jr. and Peter Norlin of Ann Arbor, MI, Renee Cupples Cascio and Gary Cascio of Santa Fe, NM,
Gina Cupples Adams and Mark Adams of Ridgeland, MS, Angela Cupples Durham and Douglas
Durham of Canton, MS, Teri Cupples Foti and Kenneth Foti of Alexandria, LA; and five
grandchildren, Brooke Adams Stevens and Michael Stevens of Madison, MS, Dylan Cascio of
Brooklyn, NY, Haley Adams of Atlanta, GA, Will Foti of Addison, TX, and Maggie Foti of Addison,
TX. Her surviving sister is Martha Cupit Till of Delhi, LA.
She was fierce when her children were unjustly criticized or treated unfairly, and equally fierce when they forgot their manners or to
respect their elders. She was averse to sharp knives in the kitchen (children and knives were
not good playmates), and to chewing gum (that was d’e classe’ and inevitably ended up in hair
that she dutifully trimmed). She was a prayer warrioress, praying daily for her family, her
church, those in need, and peace in the world. She taught her children to rise to adversity and,
along with her husband, to embrace the joy that comes with living.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Edgewood Health and Rehabilitation in Byram, MS, St. Dominic’s Hospital in
Jackson, MS, and Ridgeland Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS for their loving care.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in her name may be given to the
American Cancer Society, https://www.cancer.org/, and Ridgeland Hospice Ministries,
