Obituary of Jeanette Louise Whitehead

Jeanette Louise Bowman Whitehead, 80, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. After a brief illness, she died peacefully at her home in Jackson, MS.
Mrs. Whitehead was born on February 7, 1940 in Ackerman, MS to Thomas and Helen Bowman. After marrying James Marion Whitehead in October 1962, Jeanette and Jim spent the next 58 years rearing their family in Jackson, MS. For many years, Jeanette exhibited her extraordinary talents as a decorator and seamstress in various venues in the Jackson area. However, Mrs. Whitehead’s most cherished achievement, pride and joy were her son and grandsons which she loved beyond measure.
Mrs. Whitehead is survived by her husband, James Marion Whitehead (Jim); one son, James Marion Whitehead, Jr. (Jamie); three grandsons, Neville, Penn and Yeager Whitehead, all of Jackson; three brothers, Jack (Etoyle) Bowman of Ackerman, Glenn Bowman of Ackerman, and George (Carolyn) Bowman of Sturgis; two sister-in-laws, Peggy Bowman of Starkville and Joyce Bowman of Grenada. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews she was very much involved with.
Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen Bowman; two brothers, Billy Bowman and Don Bowman; and a niece, Tonya Bowman.
Mrs. Whitehead attended Ackerman Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, MS.
Graveside service for immediate family is Monday, December 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Enon Cemetery, Ackerman, MS. Brother Danny Irving will officiate services.
