Obituary of Jan Franklin Pierce

Please share a memory of Jan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JAN F. PIERCE, 74, of Brandon, died Wednesday December 9, 2020 at Merit Health-Rankin Hospital after a prolonged illness. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he lived in Mississippi for most of his years. After beginning his professional life as a social worker, Jan went back to school and earned his Registered Nursing degree, a late life accomplishment of which he was very proud. Jan served locally as an R.N. for many years before retiring. Jan was happily married for over 39 years to the former Bettie Jones Roberts. They enjoyed travelling together in their RV, gardening, and tackling home improvement projects. Jan spent time as a Scout leader in Jackson, and also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, savoring good food, and spoiling his beloved dogs Rosie, Bunny, and Little Bit. Jan is survived by his wife, Bettie; daughter Christina; stepchildren, Patricia A. Roberts of Madison and Charles R. Roberts of Medford, MA; sister Nancy Taylor (Wayne) of the Woodlands, TX and brother James Pierce (Joann) of Harriman, TN; nieces Cheryl Bennett of The Woodlands, TX and Sara Pierce of Harriman, TN, and his great niece Emily Bennett of The Woodlands, TX. A Memorial service through Natchez Trace Funeral Home will be announced at a later date. The family requests that written messages of sympathy may be mailed to Bettie Pierce in care of Patricia Roberts, and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association of MS (https://www.alz.org/ms), or your preferred pet shelter.
