Dorothy was born February 25, 1934 to Louis Carleton and Avis Sessums in Newton County, MS. where she grew up.
Dorothy married the love of her life, Edward E. Lewis on July 23,1953. The couple settled in Madison where they raised their three children; Randy, Ronnie and Robin.
Dorothy or "Dot" as she was known to most, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was known for her feisty sense of humor.
Dot's family was her main priority. The most important role in her life was being a mother and grandmother. She found her greatest pleasure in watching her children and grandchildren compete in their athletic endeavors. To her children and grandchildren there will never be a greater fan than "grandmother."
She loved talking on the phone to her sister, Brenda, playing cards and spending time with her family. She had a wonderful laugh that could light up a room. She was an excellent cook.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from our mom during her 83 years including a love for Jesus and family. We will miss her quick wit and funny sayings.
For the final year of her life, Dot received care at her oldest son, Randy's home. She often mentioned the special attention, love and care she received from her daughter-in-law, Rosie. The entire family appreciates the time Rosie spent making her last months comfortable.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward E. Lewis, her parents Mr. Louis Carleton Sessums and Mrs. Avis French.
She is survived by one daughter Robin Lewis North whom she had a very close and special relationship and her husband, John Sidney of Madison, MS. Mrs. Lewis loved her son-in-law as if he were her own child. Two sons, Randy W. Lewis and his wife, Rosie Lewis of Madison, MS., and Ronnie E. Lewis of Madison, MS., 3 grandchildren, Ryan Lewis and his wife Shay, Reid Lewis, and Riley North. One great grandchild, Jackson “Jax" Lewis. She also cherished many old dear friends and appreciated the loving support of her church family First Baptist Church Madison.
She will be forever loved and greatly missed.
