Shilote Smith Daniels was born on August 31, 1947 in Vaughan, MS to the late Lee Esther McCullough and the late Jim Chambers. On March 31, 1966 Shilote married the love of her life, Sherman Daniels. Shilote and Sherman were lovingly devoted to each other up to her passing. Two sons were born to this union, Sherman Kenyatta Daniels and Harvey Lyndell Daniels. Shilote affectionately, and sometimes sternly, called them “Ken and Lyn”. Shilote symbolized her dedication as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized October 24, 1974. During her 46 years of faithful service to Jehovah, she shared the truth of God’s word with her family and anyone she would meet. Shilote set a beautiful example by spending four of those years in full-time service, devoting 90 hours a month to share this good news of Bible truth. Shilote’s entrepreneurial side coupled with her strong work ethic shined bright. Shilote was a long time consultant for Princess House, a Mary Kay consultant, and worked 12 years for Tony’s Tamales up until March of this year, 2020. Shilote’s life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32: “But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you.” She truly embodied the description of a “capable wife” that’s outlined at Proverbs 31:10-31. She loved giving and doing things for others. She was deeply devoted to her God, her husband Sherman, and her two sons. This love and devotion was reciprocated to the point where her son Harvey shared, “I love my mom insanely!!” Her hands were rarely still. Shilote was always busy-in the ministry, in her home, with her business or cooking a spread for family and friends. Shilote possessed many talents, one of which was interior decorating. All you have to do is take a tour of her home to clearly see that she was gifted! She was also a spiritual mother to many demonstrated by her good listening skills and the compassion she showed toward others. She was an example worthy of imitation. She will be remembered for her style and being a sophisticated lady. Shilote made sure she was put together and looking good whether at home cleaning, going shopping, or out with family and friends. Shilote fell asleep in death Saturday, October 3, 2020. She passed with the same dignity with which she lived, in the comfort of her own home with family by her side. Shilote is preceded in death by her mother and father, and one great-grandson, Roger Sebastian Smith, III. She leaves to cherish her memories her faithful and loving husband, Sherman, her son, Sherman K. (and his wife Wanda) of Lawrence Township, NJ; her son Harvey (and his wife Linda) of Ridgeland, MS; five (5) grandchildren: Tyler Daniels, Paris Daniels, La’Tesha Yolonda Smith, Amy La’Shonda Sharpe (Lewis, Jr.), Roger Sebastian Smith, Jr. (Aarika); and three (3) great-grandchildren: McKenzie Aleyse Smith, Kyle Benjamin Sharpe, and Riley Simone Smith. She is also survived by her loving sister, Gladys Mack of Ridgeland, MS; her sister, Jimmie Lee Chambers Macon of St. Louis, MO; and brother, John Allen Chambers of St. Louis, MO. Also a special niece and namesake, Shilote “Malissa” Johnson (Melvin); as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
