Lanny Proctor, 66, of Brandon, MS, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2019. Born in Cleveland on March 21, 1953, Lanny spent his childhood in Drew, then attended Cleveland High School where he was a standout athlete. After graduating in 1971, Lanny joined the U.S. National Guard where he served for 6 years. Lanny wore many hats in his lifetime working as a soldier and chef, then in the automotive industry, and as an insurance agent before hanging up his hats a few years ago to retire and live the good life with his feet up in the recliner and his dogs in his lap. He loved spending time outdoors, whether hunting and fishing at his favorite place in Gore Springs or attempting to grow tomatoes in the front yard. Lanny was blessed to be able to see the world, travelling all over the United States and to Europe and the Caribbean. Lanny never met a stranger and loved to talk.
He was preceded in death by his father, AJ Proctor, Jr. of Cleveland, MS. Lanny is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kim Blackledge Proctor, also of Brandon; his daughters Tara Moore, Lana Casserino and her husband Philip all of Byhalia, MS, and Sarah Jewel Proctor of New York City; his mother, Jewel Proctor Askew of Cleveland, MS; his 2 brothers, Doug Proctor of Coffeeville, MS and Frank Proctor and his wife Denona of Cleveland, MS; his 3 sisters Diane Roberts of Baldwyn, MS, Rose Proctor Walters of Cleveland, MS, and Janet Crawford and her husband Terry of Indianola, MS; his grandchildren, Morgan Moore, Braden Moore, and Gavin Coleman and two step grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs Jack and Tinkerbell.
