When I was recently informed about the passing of Dr. Handley my heart sank and I was left speechless. After years of putting my oral care on the back burner due to fear and major anxiety I chose Dr. Handley in 2015 to provide my dental care for me. He created such a trustworthy, warm and comforting space for me. Dr. Handley's work was exceptionally great as I knew that it would be! Sherry and his dental hygenist was so nice to me. He will truely be missed.

John was a classmate and a friend. We had many good times together playing ball and just hanging out during those high school days. I still have a scar on my lip thanks to John tossing me a pair of pliers while working building fences together one summer! I will always remember John for having a kindness about him and as a man full of great humor. He would visit Hattiesburg on occasion and attend a USM football game if only to be around friends because we all know he was a Rebel at heart. While we were not as close during these later years I will always consider John to be one of my dearest high school friends and will carry fond memories of his friendship with me forever.

I am truly sad to hear of Dr. Handley''s passing. He was an amazing person who loved life. What I love most about him was the short stories of his personal life before each visit. He made you feel welcomed and I didn't want to go to any other dentist. He loved his wife and daughter and spoke of them everytime. He loved football and a good beer. I felt as if I lost a family member. Rest of on peacefully Dr. Handley, you will be missed. I'm still in shock...to his family I will continue to pray for you all. God bless you all.

Beth, I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. He and I spoke on June 28 talking about our favorite topic, sports. I coached him when he played baseball in our 13-14 year old league and we have been friends ever since. He is one of the nicest, kindest men I've ever known. He loved you and Sommer and was proud of your marriage. He will be missed by many. I cannot be at the service but I want you to know you are in my prayers. Woody Spiers, Picayune

I met Dr. Handley 20 years ago when he became my dentist. Going to the dentist was just like old home week, we would spend time catching up our families, friends, etc. I felt like I knew Beth, Sommer, Sister Sissy and his beloved animals because he would always speak so lovingly about them. He was such a genuine and kind person. The world has truly lost a great man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and to all whose lives he touched.

My heart is so heavy. I'm so very sorry. I would always have very long dentist visits because he had such a great bedside manner. He spoke of his family often. He would always ask me "Are you married yet?" And I'd say "no". He would say "good, marriage is serious don't just rush into it take your time". Smh. I'm just so very sorry.....

I am so sorry for your loss. John and I grew up together in elementary school in Picayune. He broke my heart one day in forth grade by looking up my name in the dictionary and discovered that rhea is a three toed African ostrich. I cried and the substitute that day had no idea how to handle the situation. I look back now and laugh and tell that story often. He was a great guy. I know you will miss him. God bless all of you and praying for His comfort.

He made me actually enjoy going to the dentist just because he was so genuinely interested in everything I had going on in life. It was always great to catch up on our extended family and everyone back in Picayune. What a great family man and a great dentist. I am so sorry for Beth and Summer as they cope with this terrible loss. I am proud to have been related to such a great man!

I am so sorry for the great loss of John. He was one of my brother's best friends growing up. When my brother died in his 20's, John honored his memory every year by placing flowers in First Baptist Picayune. There are just not enough words to describe how wonderful John was. He will always have a very big place in my heart as well as my family's.

John and I grew up in the same circles in Picayune. I saw him about 2 months ago at Paula Padgett's memorial service and I enjoyed my visit with him reminiscing about our younger years at about our families, our church, and in our community. Craig Henley shared with me on Friday about John's illness and started praying for you all. I was totally shocked Saturday when I received word of his passing. Please know that I am praying for John's family. John was such a remarkable and caring man and will be truly missed by all who had the honor to know him. Blessings of peace and comfort for all of you.
