Jo Ann Moore Harris 83, of Madison, MS was called home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2018 in Madison, MS. A visitation honoring Mrs. Joann will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. At Madison United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will follow immediately after visitation at the Madison United Methodist Church located at 100 Post Oak Rd, Madison, MS 39110.
Mrs. Jo Ann was born on January 22, 1935 in Sunflower County, MS to the late Rushell Overton & Eulene Hill Moore. She was an avid reader and loved hunting for and finding Indian Artifacts. She volunteered for many organizations in and around the Jackson and Madison area. Jo Ann was a wonderful pianist and played just for the enjoyment of it. She was and will continue to be the pillar of her family. Jo Ann adored her grandchildren and was very proud of them, to the point that each one felt that they were the favorite.
She was a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi and went on to attend Mississippi State University to obtain her Master’s
Jo Ann is preceded in passing by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Moore, her sister, Noreen Slaughter.
She is survived by her two children, Scott Bowman Harris and his wife Elizabeth of Benton, MS., and Valerie Harris Hodnett and her husband Tim of Straight Bayou, MS, one sister, Celia Faye Maske of Avada, CO., three beloved grandchildren, Stephen Moore Harris and his wife Emily of Midnight, MS., Virginia Harris Sherrer and her husband Nathan of Columbus, OH, and Margaret Bowman Harris of Benton, MS., one great grandchild, Avery Harris of Midnight, MS., her special Angel Companion, Helen Brinston of MS.
Rev. Barry Male will officiate the service.
