Obituary of James William Griffin

James William Griffin passed away on August 12th, 2024, peacefully at home.
James (Jim) was born on March 29th, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Jim is the son of Betty Meadows Griffin and Woodrow Wilson Griffin. Jim was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a graduate of Northwood University where he majored in business and computer technology. He carried on his passion in the IT world for over 50 years. As a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, he devoted countless hours to the church community. Jim enjoyed cooking at numerous events with the Knights of Columbus, where he had also served as Grand Knight. He was also involved in Thursday Night Group, Coffee and Creed and ChristLife, all that took place at the church. Jim was an avid LSU fan.
Jim is survived by his wife, Trudy Griffin, of 45 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter, Heather Brito, granddaughter, Katelin Martinez, grandson, William Brito, belated grandson, Christopher Martinez, belated granddaughter Briana Brito, and great grandson, Dakota Davis; sister, Mary Farmer (Jim); many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, MS, Sunday, August 18th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be on Monday, August 19th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison, MS. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate donations made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
