Herbert Lee Pierce II, age 55, was born on June 12, 1969 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and passed away on July 15, 2024 in Jackson, Mississippi. Herbie grew up playing football and helping on the family farm in Bonifay, Florida. Growing up in the Florida Panhandle, Herbie enjoyed visits to Panama City Beach with friends throughout high school. Herbie obtained a Bachelors in Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources from Troy University. Herbie joined the US Navy where he served as an Air Traffic Controller Petty Officer 2nd Class while stationed at NAS Pensacola. During his active duty, he supported air operations in Diego Garcia. Herbie was proud of having served in the military. Herbie’s years of working with people across Alabama and Mississippi gave him friendships across the South. His coworkers, life group members, and family friends will verify that “to know Herbie, was to love Herbie”. He believed the best in everyone. He was always the first to greet you with a warm smile or a bear hug. He could often be found on Thursday nights enjoying dinners with his best friend Thomas. Weekends were celebrated by spending time outside, grilling on the coveted Green Egg, and cheering on his Florida Gators. Whenever he got the chance, Herbie would sneak away to his beloved Gulf Coast to enjoy time with family and reconnect with his roots. Herbie is preceded in death by his mother JoAnn Dean and his step-father Eddie Dean. He is survived by his wife Sherié Pierce, daughter Olivia (Matthew) Weller, and step-son Wyatt Jenkins. Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 19 at 11:00 AM at First Ridgeland Baptist Church in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
