I am a native of Dermott, Arkansas, and I now live in Jackson. I knew Mr. Hawkins, Sr. and his second wife. My older cousins knew Thad, Jr. and thought a lot of him. I am glad I saw his obituary in the Clarion Ledger. He led a life of principle. My condolences on his loss..

Sarah, after being away from Jackson 40 years, I still take the Clarion Ledger. Was sorry to learn of Thad's death. I read his obituary with loving interest. Wondered if you were living on the coast. The last I heard you were in Atlanta. From the suggested target for memorials, it appears that you might have had a long and difficult road before Thad's eventual passing. I don't guess there is any way to avoid a disease that is as determined as all the forms of dementia. Possessing great talent, remaining mentally and physically active, eating right -- nothing seems to deter it.
I love this photo from your youth. I see a lot of purpose and determination and brightness in those eyes -- handsome man, I always thought.
Would love to hear from you as to where you are living, where children are, etc. I think we chatted when Marilyn died. That was many moons ago. I deeply cherish the memories of Belvedere Drive and Central High School. We were so very fortunate. It was a truly good life, not that ours arent right now, but we were blessed with peace, a great education, teachers who were talented.
Just wanted to leave a word. My heart goes out to you. I hope you are in good health. God bless you and yours. Lovingly, Gail
