Karlene Sue Peters died peacefully in her sleep on May 31, 2024. She was born on April 26, 1933, in Decatur, Illinois. Sue moved to Dallas, Texas as a young child which is where she eventually met Jim, the love of her life. She was a very devoted wife and mother and lived on the base with a small baby as Jim was in the Korean War. After the war, they returned to Dallas and then eventually made their way to Jackson where they spent the rest of their lives together and raised their family. She and Jim were married for 63 years. Sue was a true Southern lady who enjoyed playing bridge and was involved in many church and community organizations. She was a faithful member of Wells United Methodist Church. She is survived by her Son and daughter-in-law, Mike Peters (Tonia) of Jackson, MS; Daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Peters Fesmire (Rob) of Franklin, TN; Grandchildren, Mitch Peters, (Ceejaye), Sam Peters, (Courtney), Ryan Fesmire, (Candace), Jordan Fesmire Wiggs, (Jon); Great grandchildren, Anna Mitchell, Woods, Savannah, Elizabeth, Mire, Easton, Waylon, Marshall, Eleanor and Milton. Preceding her in death are her parents, the late Vernon Lienhart and Elizabeth Lienhart; Husband Jim Peters, Daughter-in-law, Anne Mitchell Peters and her son baby boy Peters. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers over these last years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a church charity of your choice. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
