Terry M. Allen
Canton, Mississippi
Terry Michael Allen, better known as “Grumps”, slid right on out to his eternal home late Saturday night, April 27th, in his home in Canton, Mississippi, at the age of 62.
Terry was born in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late James B. and Shirley E. Allen on September 1, 1961. They lived in Louisiana until moving to Jackson, Mississippi where Terry grew up with the love of baseball, fishing, and hunting. Terry graduated from Manhattan High School in 1979 with a lot of beloved friends.
Terry was known for his knowledge of white perch/crappie fishing on the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Folks would ask him what color jig he was using or would want to know where “his spot” was. He never gave up his secrets.
Terry leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Donna, and their two children, Emily Sham (Michael) Gulfport, MS and Michael Allen (Claire) Saltillo, MS. Terry also leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren Taylor Sham, Michael Sham III, and his newest addition Riley Keith Allen, due May 2024. Terry is survived by his four siblings, Tim Allen (Kathy), Tanya Jones, Teresa Sones (Jeff) and Todd Allen (Charmaine); and brother-in-law Butch Stallings (Julia) and sister-in-law Jaimie Peltier (Rick). Several nieces and nephews who could each tell a story or two about their ole’ Uncle Terry. Several cousins as well.
The family would like to thank their very close friends and neighborhood for their outpour of love and assistance during Terry’s hard fought battle with cancer. Terry’s prayer was for everyone to know the love of Jesus and feel at peace when the Good Lord calls them home.
There will be a small, private Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like for you to share with others a sweet memory of Terry or a joke he might have told you. Indeed, it was quite a ride!
