Samuel “Eric” Storm, 60 years old, passed away on April 21, 2024, following a courageous cancer battle. He was born on May 29, 1963, to Troy and Bonnie Storm in Brookhaven, MS. He grew up in the Brookhaven community with his brother, John, and graduated from Brookhaven High School where he enjoyed various activities including student government. Later he went to Copiah-Lincoln Community College where he served as trainer/manager for the basketball team. Named to the Hall of Fame, Co-Lin is where Eric redirected his career goals toward physical therapy. He graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School for Health-Related Professions and enjoyed a lengthy career in Physical Therapy. Eric worked at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Forrest General Hospital and St. Dominic Hospital prior to co-founding Genesis Physical Therapy, where he served as clinic director for several area clinics. Opening these outpatient therapy clinics was a shared dream with business partner and close friend, Gregg Trussell. He saw his profession as his ministry and sought to be the hands and feet of Christ with all his interactions. Eric enjoyed working with patients for the entire course of recovery. He also found himself in a position to encourage younger therapists or those interested in the profession. He was a natural mentor and valued those opportunities to support others. Church family was an important aspect of Eric’s life. He was involved at Easthaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven while growing up. For the past 30 years, Eric and his wife, Kathy, have served at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison where he spent time as a deacon, teacher, missions team member, to name a few roles. Mostly he enjoyed the diverse relationships established in that church family and made long-lasting friendships. He was a fierce prayer warrior and had a rock-solid faith in his salvation through Christ. A lot of Eric’s time revolved around sports, whether it be playing golf, watching Ole Miss football, following the Miami Dolphins, or cheering for his children or nephews in whatever activities they enjoyed. He adored his family and was a fantastic father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He was loyal to the core and his absence will be felt for a very long time. Eric is preceded in passing by his father, Troy Storm and mother, Bonnie Entrican Storm. Eric is survived by his wife, Kathy Storm, daughter Sydney Storm, and son, Sam Storm; brother John Storm (Natacia) of Madison; brother-in-law Bill Parks of Brandon; nephews Mitchell Storm (Lauren Kate), Justin Storm and Travis Parks; niece Haley Parks; parents-in-law Jim and Betty Parks of Clinton. The family of Joe and Frances Speights of Brookhaven have been special extended family to Eric and his brother John. Eric also leaves a host of friends and loved ones for whom he deeply cared. The visitation will be at Natchez Trace Funeral Home from 5-7 on Thursday, April 25 and 10-11 on Friday, April 26. A funeral service celebrating his life will be at 11 on Friday, April 26, with an interment to follow at Natchez Trace Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family wants to thank the medical teams at Jackson Oncology, MEA, AccentCare, and St. Dominic Interventional Radiology for the loving care that was given to Eric throughout his cancer battle. Dr. Bobby Graham, Dr. Nicole Cleveland and Dr. Gene Loper led treatment in the most compassionate manner. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions to Eric’s home churches of Easthaven Baptist in Brookhaven or Ridgecrest Baptist in Madison are suggested.
