Obituary of Shellye Q. Prim

Please share a memory of Shellye to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shellye Q. Prim Madison, MS It is with some obvious sadness, but also great joy because of ultimate healing, that the family of Shellye Quinn Prim delivers the news of her passing on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Shellye (affectionately known as "Annie" to her family) was born in Natchez, MS, and grew up in Jackson, MS, where she lived most of her life. Later, she moved to Flora, MS, where she loved to be with her late husband of 40 years, Jack, and her beautiful yard and flowers - all of which brought her great joy. All of the folks who knew Shellye loved being around her. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a fun-loving spirit, and an infectious laugh! Once, there was a person we knew who messed up the famous quote about "he who laughs last..." This person said "He who last laughs last, last laughs least less..." or something to that effect, and it was over at that point, because we were all in tears! That was a joke Shellye brought up for years! One thing, however, stands out to those who knew her, and that was her fierce, protective love for her family, particularly her children and grandchildren. She absolutely did not have an easy childhood, and was determined to do all she could to make things better for her own little ones. Much of her life was working 2-3 jobs to have enough money to buy some nice Christmas presents for her children, or be able to go get a hamburger and ice cream after school once in a while. She was always the "fun mom" who would have kids over to play, fix great food, plan birthday parties, and be at her children's functions. She would tell you that she was incredibly blessed with 2 wonderful children, Gene (Dotty) Fortenberry, and Judy (Andre) Chapoy. She would probably also tell you that she was even MORE incredibly blessed by her grandchildren, Christian Kelly, Nick (Brooke) Kelly, Zayn Chapoy, Connor (Grace) Fortenberry, Collin (Shelby) Fortenberry, Cameron Fortenberry, Corrin Fortenberry, and one great-grandchild, Foster Connell. We all know and have been touched by how time and disease ravage these earthly, human bodies of ours, but we also must remember that what we see and experience here and now is not anywhere CLOSE to how things will be for us once we move on from here; and that is what our Annie is experiencing right now because of her faith in Jesus Christ! There will be no formal visitation or funeral, only a gathering of family to say goodbye. We realize that these type writings are sometimes very serious and sad, but that is not how we want this last memorial about her life to be. In lieu of any flowers, Annie would tell you to feel free to make a donation to her favorite charity: her children, and grandchildren! Not really, Friends! So we will leave this as Annie's last, fun-loving joke... Blessings to you all!
