Santos "Poncho" Castillo Perez, Jr. passed away on February 26, 2024, at the age of 76. He was a resident at the V.A. Nursing Home in Kosciusko, MS. Born December 28, 1947, to Santos C. Perez and Marie Theresa Lemaire at Paris, France. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy November 1965, at the age of 17 and obtained his GED. He was very proud to serve his country and of his service on the USS Valor. After his military service he made his home in Jackson, MS and started his business installing carpet. In June 1991, Santos married Maiden Christensen in Jackson, MS and they were married for over thirty years. The couple were known by their friends as Poncho and Sam. Both were huge New Orleans Saints fans. They would travel to New Orleans many times throughout the years to support their football team. He is preceded in passing by his parents, wife Sam, sister, Frances Perez Weed of Jackson, MS and brother, Jose Perez of San Antonio, TX. He is survived by his sister, Irene Chacon (Victor) of Chicago, IL. and youngest sister, Linda Weaver (Gary) of Columbus, MS. Santos will be missed by his nephews, Kelly Weaver (Karla) of El Paso, TX., Colby Weaver of Denver, CO., and Garrett Weaver of Columbus, MS. He had a great love for life and will continue to live in his friends and family hearts. A graveside service to honor Santos' life will be held in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00am. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum Niche.
