In honor of our esteemed high school principal and coach, Jerry Hale, whose unwavering dedication to nurturing greatness in every student not only challenged us to set loftier goals but also inspired us to believe in our own potential. His ability to push us beyond our comfort zones, coupled with his genuine compassion and unwavering resilience in guiding us through triumphs and setbacks alike, truly set him apart.
I am deeply moved by the profound impact of the lessons learned and the transformative guidance received under his compassionate leadership. May his legacy continue to shine brightly, motivating all who had the privilege of knowing him to pursue their dreams with unwavering determination. Rest assured, dear mentor, your legacy of kindness and encouragement lives on in the hearts and souls of those fortunate enough to have been touched by your wisdom and compassion.
With heartfelt gratitude and admiration,
Lemzel Johnson - Madison Ridgeland HS, Class of 1990

Uncle Jerry was the definition of integrity. He was a humble man that loved his family deeply. Uncle Jerry always greeted me with a hug and smile and usually something good to eat. He was a father figure and mentor to me and so many others. He believed in discipline, hard work and a firm handshake. Uncle Jerry's handshake was no joke. I adored him and he was my favorite. I will always be grateful for the unconditional love that he provided me and my family.

Such a wonderful man. He was always so funny and caring no matter how much time I spent at his house causing trouble with Diana. He will be greatly missed.

Uncle Jerry:
I’m in shock that you are gone! But I want to share how we had conversations about Texas education vs Mississippi education, should Benjamin be in football? Is it the right fit? Your garden and dogs…. And damn what the hell do you have in your freezer now!? You didn’t take no guff and respect was the name of the game. You loved your family unconditionally and always opened up your home to me and my kids - even though I did leave the front door unlocked one time. But technically that was Bennett’s fault! LOL Rest in Peace and know that we love you ❤️❤️❤️

I knew him as Principal Hale. An understanding and nice man, who showed genuine kindness in dealing with me as a young man. He'd always tug on my peach fuzz beard, as it was against our student handbook policy, but wouldn't really give me a hard time about it. He went out of his way one time to drive me all the way home to test my blood sugar, when I live some miles away. Rest in peace, good sir.
