Larry Clifton Williams, 85, of Madison, was granted eternal rest on Saturday, 1/27/2024. He was a resident of the MS State Veterans Home in Jackson for the last 3 years. Born in Crystal Springs, Ms., oldest of five, Larry mostly grew up in the community of Wynndale, graduating from Byram High School in 1957. Larry was very athletic, having lettered in five sports. He also was a Boy Scout, having achieved the rank of Life Scout. Larry served in the Army National Guard after high school as an X-ray specialist with the 134th Surgical Hospital (Mobile A), Fourth US Army. He was called to active service in 1962, covering the time period of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Larry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Antoinette (Ann) Taylor Williams; four sons, Larry Alan (Belinda), Scott (Karen), Todd (Michelle), and Donald Wayne (Brandi); 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren (with two on the way), and two great, great grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his four siblings: Linda Allegrezza (Jimmy), Nancy Huff (Ray, dec.), David (Cheri), and Marty (Cathy). He is preceded in death by his son, David Michael; parents Walter Clifton Willliams and Merle Walker Williams (Wynndale, Ms). Larry was employed for 20 years with Superior Transfer & Storage, driving long hauls to all 48 contiguous states, and then serving as a warehouse manager for many years. Larry then worked 21 years for Rapid Delivery Service, doing long haul deliveries and then serving as the safety and training coordinator before retirement. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, watching sports, and playing golf. Larry was particularly fond of Mississippi State University sports, and enjoyed attending games near and far with his brothers. Larry loved his family, visiting as often as he could. He loved to chat with people, and really never met a stranger. Daddy to his sons, and Pop to all his grandkids, he will be missed by family and friends. A celebration of life and remembrance is planned for early April at River Bend Park along the Natchez Trace Parkway, a favorite family reunion spot. Interment is planned for later in the year at the Natchez National Cemetery.
